Our Tutors

DS Counselling Training consists of a team of ethical, professional and experienced tutors.  The course tutors have worked together for over 13 years delivering CPCAB courses in Adult Education, in particular the Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

Debbie Owen

Tutor

 

Debbie is a qualified and BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) Accredited Counsellor with many thousands of hours of one-to-one counselling experience. She is also a qualified individual and group Supervisor.  Debbie worked in a Further Education college for seven years counselling staff and students and running training courses.  She has worked as a mediator with Maidstone Mediation Centre where she mediated between parents and teenagers.  She ran anger management courses for teenagers, which she went on to develop in a therapeutic setting.  Debbie has worked in Adult Education since November 2011 and has taught Introduction to Counselling Skills, Skills (L2), Studies (L3) and Diploma (L4).  Debbie says she finds training the counsellors of the future an extremely rewarding and humbling experience.

Sharon Hills

Tutor

 

Sharon is a qualified Counsellor and Supervisor, accredited with both the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and NCS (National Counselling Society). She has a Masters in Lifelong Education and Professional Practice and a Degree (Hons) in Social Sciences.  She has worked in both agencies and privately.  This has led her to work with diverse client groups on a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, self-harm, relationship issues, bereavement and mental health.   Previously Sharon worked in Adult Education from 2000 as a Tutor, teaching Psychology, Sociology and Counselling.  In 2004 she became a Programme Manager, managing mainly accredited courses including GSEs, GCSEs, IT, Teaching Assistants, Sign Language and Counselling.  Sharon takes particular pleasure in facilitating self-development in others, and has worked extensively in this area with students who are embarking on a career in counselling.
